AGM VarmintV2 LRF 35-384

AGM’s VarmintV2 LRF 35‑384 modernizes the Varmint series with a sub‑20 mK 12‑µm sensor, on‑board ballistic calculator and an integrated 1,000 m laser rangefinder. The 35 mm f/1.0 lens and 384×288 sensor are rated for detection up to ~1,800 m for a human‑sized target, while a 1024×768 OLED display provides a bright picture.

A recoil‑activated video recorder stores footage on 16 GB of internal memory, and the unit streams via Wi‑Fi. Removable 18650 batteries supply around six hours of runtime, and the IP67‑rated magnesium housing keeps dust and moisture out.

  • Is This the Right Thermal for You?:

Choose the 35‑384 if you want an affordable thermal riflescope with integrated rangefinding and ballistic calculation. Its 384 sensor and 35 mm lens excel at detecting hogs and coyotes within ~600–800 yards, and the laser rangefinder provides quick distance readouts for holdover adjustments. If you need sharper imagery or a wider field of view, the VarmintV2 35‑640 might be worth the upgrade.

  • Best For:

    • Predator and hog hunters seeking a value‑priced scope with onboard rangefinder and ballistic solver
    • Farmers and ranchers who need to protect livestock at night within ~1,000 yards
    • Users who appreciate removable 18650 batteries and a 5‑year warranty

  • Not Ideal For:

    • Identification beyond ~800 yards; the 384 sensor limits fine detail compared to 640 models
    • Long recording sessions; 16 GB of storage fills quickly at high resolution
    • Shooters who need a wide field of view – consider the 640 version for broader situational awareness

  • How This Model Compares:

Within the VarmintV2 family, the 35‑384 offers the lowest cost of entry. It shares the same laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator as the 35‑640 but uses a 384×288 sensor and smaller memory. The 35‑640 upgrades to a 640×512 sensor and wider 12.5° field of view, while retaining the same lens and 16 GB storage.

The 35‑384’s 384×288 sensor provides less resolution than the 35‑640’s 640×512 core. This results in shorter identification ranges and a narrower field of view, but it makes the 35‑384 more affordable.

  • What You Actually Get in Real-World Use:

Hunters appreciate the VarmintV2 35‑384’s simple menu and clear image out to ~300–500 yards. The recoil‑activated recorder captures shots automatically, and the eye‑safe rangefinder reads reliably on most targets inside ~600 yards.

Some users report inconsistent ranging beyond ~60 yards on very small or poorly reflective targets, so they carry a separate rangefinder as a backup. Battery life with 18650 cells averages ~6–7 hours, and the ability to swap batteries in the field is a major advantage.

  • FAQS

    • What is the effective detection and identification range of the VarmintV2 35‑384?
AGM lists a detection range of 1,800 m for a 6‑ft object. In the field, most hunters can identify hogs or coyotes within 600–800 yards, with recognition extending beyond 1,000 yards under favourable conditions.
    • How reliable is the laser rangefinder?
The integrated eye‑safe rangefinder measures distances from 5 m to around 1,000 m. It works reliably on larger animals and reflective targets, but at longer ranges or on small game some users experience occasional misreads.
    • What type of batteries does it use?
The VarmintV2 runs on two removable 18650 rechargeable batteries. Each set provides over six hours of runtime, and spares can be swapped in seconds.
    • Does it record audio as well as video?
Yes. The built‑in video recorder captures audio along with video. A recoil‑activated mode ensures your shots are automatically recorded.
    • Can I customise the reticle and display settings?
Absolutely. The scope offers multiple reticle shapes and colours, adjustable brightness and contrast, several colour palettes and stadiametric rangefinding.

  • Detailed Product Description:

The AGM VarmintV2 LRF 35-384 is a thermal riflescope with integrated laser ranging and ballistic calculation. Its 384×288, 12 µm sensor has sub-20 mK sensitivity, while the 35 mm f/1.0 lens provides 3× base magnification. The 7.5° × 5.7° field of view is worth considering if you scan close ground as well as open fields. A 1024×768 OLED display presents the image.

The onboard ballistic calculator uses configured data to calculate a correction. Measuring distance and identifying the animal remain separate tasks. Shot-activated video with sound and 16 GB storage save footage, while Wi-Fi connectivity works with AGM Connect.

One removable 18650 battery powers the scope, with two batteries supplied. AGM rates operating time at over six hours, and USB-C external power is supported. An ADM mount and IP67 rating round out the package. Choose the 35-384 for its 3× starting view and integrated ranging; digital zoom enlarges existing detail.
