AGM VarmintV2 LRF 35-640

The VarmintV2 LRF 35‑640 builds on the 35‑384 by incorporating a 640×512 thermal core for improved resolution and a wider 12.5° × 10.0° field of view. It retains the integrated 1,000‑m laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator, 35 mm f/1.0 lens, 16 GB recorder and Wi‑Fi connectivity.

Recoil‑activated video capture, multiple reticle options and removable 18650 batteries make this scope a versatile tool for predator and hog hunters.

  • Is This the Right Thermal for You?:

If you like the features of the VarmintV2 but want sharper imagery and a wider field of view, the 35‑640 is the logical upgrade. Its 640×512 sensor yields better detail through higher digital zoom and makes target identification easier at longer distances. However, if your budget is tight or you mainly shoot inside ~600 yards, the 35‑384 remains a capable option.

  • Best For:

    • Predator and hog hunters seeking higher‑resolution imagery and a wider view than the 35‑384 offers
    • Shooters who want an integrated rangefinder and ballistic calculator for ~800–1,200 yard shots
    • Users who value removable 18650 batteries for extended runtime

  • Not Ideal For:

    • Extreme long‑range detection beyond ~1,800 m – the V3 50‑640 extends farther
    • People needing large onboard storage – 16 GB fills quickly
    • Those requiring a clip‑on or lightweight monocular; this is a dedicated riflescope

  • How This Model Compares:

The 35‑640 uses the same chassis and lens as the 35‑384 but upgrades to a 640×512 sensor. This enhances clarity and allows a wider 12.5° field of view. It still has 16 GB internal storage and removable 18650 batteries.

Compared with the 35‑384, the 35‑640’s sensor quadruples pixel count, resulting in smoother zoom and better long‑range identification. However, the scope still relies on 16 GB storage and removable 18650 batteries.

  • What You Actually Get in Real-World Use:

In the field, the 35‑640 produces noticeably sharper images than its 384‑pixel sibling. Hunters report clear identification of coyotes and hogs out to ~800–1,200 yards, with the wider field of view aiding scanning. The laser rangefinder works reliably inside ~600–800 yards; at longer distances, some users carry an external rangefinder as backup. Battery life remains around 6 hours per pair of 18650 cells, and recording time is limited by the 16 GB memory.

  • FAQS

    • How far can I see with the VarmintV2 35‑640?
AGM rates detection of a 6‑ft target at 1,800 m. In practice, most hunters can identify coyotes or pigs within 800–1,200 yards and recognise larger livestock or vehicles beyond that.
    • Does the 35‑640 use the same batteries as the 35‑384?
Yes. Both VarmintV2 models use removable 18650 rechargeable batteries. Each pair runs about 6 hours, and spares can be swapped quickly.
    • Is the ballistic calculator accurate?
The on‑board calculator provides holdover corrections based on your ballistic profile and the measured range. It's generally accurate for typical calibres, but verifying data at the range is recommended.
    • Can I record and stream video at the same time?
Yes. The scope can record video to its internal memory while simultaneously streaming a live view via Wi‑Fi to a mobile device.
    • How does the 35‑640 compare to the RattlerV3 35‑640?
Both use a 640×512 sensor and a 35 mm lens, but the RattlerV3 has a higher‑resolution 2560×2560 display, 64 GB storage and a removable NE‑4400 battery. The VarmintV2 is lighter, uses 18650 batteries and costs less.

  • Detailed Product Description:

The AGM VarmintV2 LRF 35-640 combines a 640×512 thermal sensor with integrated laser ranging. Its 35 mm f/1.0 lens starts at 2× magnification and provides a 12.5° × 10° field of view. That open starting view is useful when scanning room matters. The 12 µm sensor has sub-20 mK sensitivity; more sensor pixels do not guarantee animal identification.

The onboard ballistic calculator uses configured data to calculate a correction. Shot-activated recording with audio saves to 16 GB storage, with Wi-Fi connectivity through AGM Connect. Digital zoom enlarges the existing image.

One removable 18650 battery powers the unit, and two are included. AGM rates operating time at over five hours. USB-C external power, an ADM quick-detach mount and an IP67 rating complete the package. Choose this model for its 640 sensor and 2× starting view.
